黄小鹏，1960生于中国山西。1983广州美术学院本科毕业。1992英国伦敦大学斯莱德美术学院研究生毕业。现为广州美术学院副教授，第五工作室（当代艺术）主任。其录像和公共装置作品试图主要探索“复制”和“转换”过程中出现的错位和对文化理解和翻译局限性的问题，并通过将语言翻译推倒极端的方式，来试探测意义的边界：在哪一点上被重复翻译的语言开始失去其原义？他最近的工作计划包括：“你是我的实现的梦”； “（反）现实主义”（与Per Hüttner合作）；“来自这里的视野” （与伦敦大学院斯莱德研究中心和BBC合作）。近年主要参展：“城市-方法论”， 伦敦大学斯莱德研究中心(英国)，2009； “Shadows中国独立电影节”, 巴黎蓬皮杜艺术中心 / Les Voutes空间(法国)，“跟后殖民说再见 — 第三届广州三年展”，广东美术馆(中国) 2008；“今日中国影像”，南安普敦John Hansard画廊(英国) 2007；“十三个：今日中国影像”，纽約P.S.1当代艺术心(美国)；“我们是改变“，米兰Isola 艺术中心(意大利) 2006；“别样：一个特殊的现代化实验空间，第二届广州三年展”，广东美术馆(中国) 2005。同时撰文：“美术学院体制与当代艺术实验”，艺术当代No.1/2007(第12届卡塞尔文献展杂志)；“作为艺术计划的教育”， Printed Projects11（第53届威尼斯双年展参展刊物）2009。

Huang Xiaopeng, born 1960. He studied for an MA at the Slade in London(1990-92) and
returned to China in 2003, He is currently a Associate Professor and head of the 5th
studio(contemporary art) in Guangzhou Academ of Fine Art, China. He works in the
mediums of video and public installation. His works explores inevitable dislocations as a
consequence of translating, copying and transforming. He asks questions about
understanding between cultures and the limitations of translation, plays with language to
test the boundaries of understanding and meaning. His recent projects include “You are the dream of my realization”, “(Anti-)Realism ”(with Per Hüttner), “The view from here”(with the Slade and BBC). His works were exhibited at “CITIES Methodologies”, the Slade research centre, UCL, London (UK.), 2009; “Festival Shadows”, Centre Pompidou / Les Voutes(France), “Farewell to Post-Colonialism—The 3rd Guangzhou Triennial”, Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou (China), 2008, “Chinese Video Now”, John Hansard Gallery, Southampton, (U.K), 2007; “The Thirteen:Chinese Video Now”, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (U.S.), “La rivoluzione siamo noi”, Isola Art Center Milano (Italy), 2006; “BEYOND: an extraordinary space of experimentation for modernization—The Second Guangzhou Triennial”, Guangdong Museum Of Art, Guangzhou (China), 2005. He has also contributed critical texts “Academy and Contemporary Art —contemporary art experimental course in Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts” to “Art China Magazine”, No.1/2007(the 12th DOCUMANTA Magazine), and“Education as an Art Project” to Printed Projects 11 (the 53 th Venice Biennial in June, 2009).
